Coir Fiber
Coir is a natural fiber extracted from the outer husk of the coconut (Cocos nucifera).
It is one of the most versatile and eco-friendly natural fibers in the world.
Coir is strong, durable, resistant to saltwater, and biodegradable, making it an ideal material for sustainable applications.
There are two main types:
- Brown Coir :
extracted from mature coconuts; it's thick, coarse, and strong.
- White Coir :
from immature coconuts; finer and softer, often used for making yarns and ropes.
Coir Pith (Coco Peat)
Coco pith, also known as coco peat, is a byproduct of processing coconut husks to extract coir fiber.
It is the spongy, peat-like material that remains after the coir is removed.
Naturally lightweight, fibrous, & absorbent, coco pith is widely used in modern agriculture and horticulture as a soil substitute, conditioner, or growing medium.
